Cariad Personal Ceremonies

Tell us all about you!!

I am Ali Fleming, I am based in the East Midlands, lucky to be living in an area surrounded by fields, cows, horses and sheep. I love the countryside but I love the sea much more and being an Aquarian am happiest by the sea. I regularly have to visit the Gower coast to top up my ions.  I am married, have the two most amazing sons, 3 step grandchildren and have a golden labrador called Carla.  I love music, gin, great company and laughter!
5

How did you first get your business started?

I had been a Registrar of Births, Deaths and Marriages in Derbyshire for 12 years prior to starting up my business. I faced my lightbulb moment when a close friend approached me to marry her and her fiancée wanting the ceremony to be at their home, outside in their own large garden, the outcome was I married them legally at the Register Office where I was working, then working with them, listening to what they both wanted out of the day,  involving  their children from  their previous marriages, wrote and delivered a unique ceremony as part of  A Mad Hatters Tea Party theme. It was purely magical!

Because of all the different restrictions that registration law creates in marriage ceremonies,  everyone having the same ceremony content with limited choices and lack of  flexibility, I looked into ways of being able to offer ceremonies just like the one I had created for my friends.  The world of celebrancy completely opened my eyes to what I would be able to offer couples. I therefore completed my thorough training and qualifications to be a celebrant, leaving my full time job behind me.

3

What makes your business different?

My passion is to be able to offer all couples the opportunity to fulfill their dreams in being able to have a completely bespoke personalised ceremony  with whatever choice of content they would like and anywhere they would like it. The chosen place does not have to be licensed. I provide suggestions to put meaningful parts into their ceremony, involving important guests and family. Everyone can be involved! Sitting watching boring ceremonies are so “old hat”. With my expertise in the wedding industry coupled with my unique ideas as well as listening to your own ideas, all can be brought to  reality.

4

What do you love most about weddings?

Having the privilege of sharing the couple’s journey and seeing that all come to fruition on the day and how everyone is wowed by the ceremony, which starts the whole day off in such an amazing way.  I just love the fact that the couples feel so relaxed on the day and can enjoy their ceremony so much – because after all, they have written it !

7

Any tip for brides looking into your type of service?

Osmaston Park is an ideal venue for holding your whole day, from ceremony through to reception all in one place, why not have your ceremony outside overlooking the amazing lake?

So if any of you are planning a civil ceremony, please come and talk to me first – this is one of the most important days of your lives. Ensure that you have found out about all your choices and yes there are many!!

If you are not able to get to speak to me on the day of the show, please contact me on 07961 668996. With no obligation whatsover.

6

Are there any special offers available for the wedding show?

Yes there will be special offers on the day!

NAWP Logo A

Anything else you’d like the world to know?

I do have to confirm that all celebrant ceremonies are not legally binding and a straight forward, low cost, legal process must take place at your local register office before your ceremony day.  I am happy to talk and guide any couples through this process.

I want to tell the whole world how it is possible to have the most amazing ceremony ever, it can be held in a field, village hall, a private garden, a boat, a beach…. anywhere that you choose!! It can have religious parts as well as civil – a mix of both or either, no restrictions on candles, content of music or readings, we can have singing, dancing, we can have dogs, llamas,  a pet rabbit to bring the rings or quite simply a traditional ceremony. “Your day Your way”…… Spreading the Cariad Love….

Beautiful bridesmaid dresses by Neeva D!!

NeevaD_whole

Tell us all about you!!

I grew up in London and have been working as a fashion designer for the past 15 years. Therefore, I feel quite a Londoner and I love it here. For me, it’s the fashion capital of the world. Fuelled by its diverse people and a sense of chaos, London provides me that inspiration and adventurous spirit that makes me wake up in the morning and be part of the city’s creative spirit.

I’m very fortunate to have been brought up in two distinctive cultures, British and Indian. They’re intrinsically part of my life, hugely influencing my creativity. I’m fascinated by the architectures, elegant designs and silhouettes of the West and by the flamboyant colours, exquisite fabrics and the hand craft of my birth place in India. I love 50’s fashion and a style inspiration of mine is the legendary actress Audrey Hepburn – to me she epitomises elegance in fashion. My first collection carries the hallmark of all my inspirations and my dual heritage.

Apart from my supportive family and friends, three other things that lift me when I am down is a good film, chocolate and red wine.

7

How did you first get your business started?

While studying for my fashion degree I started taking on small projects from family and friends, designing and making special occasional dresses in my mother’s dining room. I realized then that people began to like what I was creating. This was a real boost in confidence and my passion in fashion grew immensely.  After graduating I pursued my passion and quickly found myself working as a designer for a reputable UK high street brand. Though it was exciting and I felt proud seeing my designs hanging on shop rails, I was also little sad as there wasn’t any recognition for my creation. That’s when I decided to work for myself and start my own business.

To my friends and family I am known as Neeva D and that’s where the name of my brand drives from. ‘Neeva D London’ was launched in 2015 which is known for its hybrid couture womens wear. I’m most proud of my first couture collection ‘Neo Colonial’.

I actually came into bridal wear by accident. I began to get interest from people who wanted to wear my occasion wear as wedding dresses, and my cocktail dresses as bridesmaid dresses. I have now added a small capsule of flower girls dresses to compliment my current collection. This will be launched at the The Giant Wedding Show, that I am really excited about! I hope you can all join me.

What do you love most about weddings?

I love everything about weddings! The best part is seeing everyone spreading so much love in the space. From the bride and the groom to the older couples that you can still see the adoration in their eyes for each other. I love the fact that its one day when one girl/woman made to feel very special as she walks down the aisle in the arms of her proud father.   In an Indian wedding I always feel very emotional when bride and the groom make their vows as they go round the fire seven times. I love the fact that everyone makes an effort to look at their best. I adore the little children dancing and the bride and the groom just loving life, fresh and people throwing confetti as they leave ready to take on the world.

Any tip for brides looking into your type of service?

Make sure you have a great fitting bra. Wearing the perfect bra—in the right size—will make your dress fit better. Once you have selected your wedding dress, ask the sales person what type of bra would be best for you and your dress — strapless, corset, halter?  You want to make sure the cups fit right so you are not spilling over the top and out the sides. A lot of brides try to lose weight before the wedding to fit into their gorgeous dress. Therefore I would recommend that brides go to a reputable lingerie specialist shop and get measured properly before their final trial so that they are wearing the correct band size, which ultimately ensures both perfect fit and total comfort.  And remember to take the undergarments you plan to wear on your big day to each and every dress fitting.

2

Are there any special offers available for the wedding show?

Exclusive offer to all attending the Giant Wedding Show – 15% discount will be given to all orders over £100.

3

Anything else you’d like the world to know?

Style and fashion is very personal, so if you choose your clothes carefully and spend little more and invest on a few good classic pieces, you will find that these have longer shelf life as these can be worn over and over again very creatively. As Audrey Hepburn said ‘Style is Ageless’ and I would add to that and say ‘Fashion is Timeless’.

Amy Chadwick Wedding Stationery

            The Giant Wedding Show, Derbyshire

Based in Ashbourne, Derbyshire, I design and make luxury bespoke stationery to add that special touch to your wedding day. Having previously worked as a lawyer and making wedding stationery as a hobby for many years, in 2014 I was able to set up my business and do something I love whilst fitting my work around my young family.

The Giant Wedding Show, Derbyshire

Many brides who come to me have an idea in mind of how they would like their stationery to look in terms of colours and style; I bring brides (and grooms!) ideas to life and create beautiful stationery to their specification which sets the perfect tone for their special day. Once we have a design for save the dates and invitations, this can be followed through to the “on the day” stationery by way of table plan, placecards, table names, etc and this brings everything together.

The Giant Wedding Show, Derbyshire

I have limited availability in the diary for 2016 but am taking bookings for 2017 and 2018 weddings. Local home design consultations are available by request. I am looking forward to meeting lots of brides and grooms at the fayre on Sunday and with my leaflets there will be a special code to receive a free Guest Book.

What I love the most about weddings is the transformation from everyday to stunning bride ready to get married & change the rest of her life.

The Giant Wedding Show, Derbyshire

Any tip for brides looking into your type of service?

When booking a makeup artist take a look at their previous work, their reviews from previous clients & the social media & website, you can tell a lot from these & if this makeup artist is for you.

Check for qualifications & insurance there are so many that don’t check this & in turn the makeup artist they book can’t deliver the desired results or doesn’t turn up! I’ve had many distraught brides call me on the wedding morning when there artist hasn’t arrived.

Have an idea of what makeup you want, if you don’t, have some pictures of styles you like, look at Pinterest & Instagram for ideas & inspiration.

The Giant Wedding Show, Derbyshire

Are there any special offers available for the wedding show?

There will be offers available & goodie bags for those that choose to book on the day.

Our Wedding Videographers

Logo for Our Wedding Videographers

Tell us about you!

I’m Geoff, I’m 30 years young. I started my wedding videography business in 2008 (Our Wedding Videographers) I’m based in Long Eaton, Nottingham. In my free time away from filming/editing I enjoy eating out a lot, playing the drums, going to the gym and seeing live bands.

Photo of Geoff from Our Wedding Videographers

How did you first get your business started?

I’ve had a video camera in my hands since I was 14, I went on to get BSc in Multimedia production at Nottingham Trent Uni. I graduated in 2006 and on a trip to California in 2008 I helped film some weddings with an American wedding videography company, I created the first ‘Our Wedding Videographers’ website on that trip and I’m still filming weddings in 2016.

What makes your business different?

My couples have said that the stand out aspect of my films is the attention to detail with the editing. I am a perfectionist and the highlights film has to be just right. I start each film with a fresh perspective and craft them to be individual and personal to each of my couples.

What do you love most about weddings?

I feel very privileged to have been invited to capture the most intimate and special moment of my couple’s lives, it only happens once and they chose me to film it. Sometimes after I’ve filmed a really great shot I’ll show my couple a sneak peak there & then and the reactions I get are priceless!

Any tip for brides looking into your type of service?

It’s a very personal service; we often start filming in the morning during the prep so I think it’s good to get to know who’s filming you before hand. You’re spending the whole day with your videographer so it’s important to feel comfortable around them.

Two things that are overlooked is the quality of the ‘full length’ film and the actual sound captured on the day. Make sure the ‘full length’ film matches up to the quality of your highlights film. When you’re listening back to your vows and speeches you want to hear the person speaking clearly without the background noise.

Country Garden Weddings

The Giant Wedding Show, Derbyshire

Tell us all about you, where are you based, what are your loves in life?

We’re Mary and Philippa, a mother-daughter team from Mayfield, just outside of Ashbourne on the edge of the Peak National Park.

Mary is at the helm of Country Garden Weddings. She’s an expert treasure seeker and manages to source (and even make!) all sorts of gems for our collection of decor and accessories. She got married in July 1977 with the most classic of country garden weddings – the only hitch was that the cake collapsed! Mary’s great loves in life are her family and friends, the valleys of France and the mountains of Scotland and her garden. In another life, she’d have made a superb member of the Groundforce team.

Philippa manages the marketing, social media and the business development side of things – basically, her favourite thing is making new friends! She’s always been the creative and entrepreneurial type, so if you’ve got an idea, the chances are she can make it a reality! She got married in June 2015 and hasn’t looked back since. Philippa’s dearest ambition is to be awarded a Blue Peter badge (sadly not yet forthcoming!) and her great love in life is the theatre. She’s got a flair for the dramatic…

Together, we think we make a good team for all things wedding!

The Giant Wedding Show, Derbyshire

How did you first get your business started?

We set up Country Garden Weddings after planning Philippa’s ‘at home’ garden wedding in June 2015. With a healthy dose of fun and imagination, we worked with lots of family and friends to collect and design all sorts of decorations and accessories to create a unique, personal and quirky country garden wedding. We quickly realized that friends and family wanted to borrow the things we had made and collected for their own events, or to come us for advice as they were designing their own weddings. We also realised that we LOVED helping other people bring their wedding day to life, and so over a glass (or two!) of wine, Country Garden Weddings was born!

 The Giant Wedding Show, Derbyshire

What makes your business different?

We like to think that a combination of our unique (and often very quirky!) accessories, our bespoke range and sourcing service, and an incredibly personal approach make us a different kind of company to work with. Every wedding is different, and every marriage is different, and we like to make sure we can help every bride and groom design a wedding day that reflects their individuality and their future together.

We also are very proud of our bespoke service, and love working with brides and grooms to create décor and accessories from scratch that are completely and utterly unique.

The Giant Wedding Show, Derbyshire

What do you love most about weddings?

Philippa is very clear on what she loves most about weddings, and it’s probably not what you’d expect from someone who’s involved with a décor and accessories business (hint: it’s not the décor and accessories, though they are one of the fun bits of the planning!).

It’s actually the bit in the service where the registrar or vicar asks the couple to declare their commitment to each other, and then asks the family and friends of the bride and groom to support the couple in their marriage. That’s the bit that reminds you that it’s not just two people making a promise, it’s a promise made in front of all the people that are most important to you, and that have supported you in that journey towards each other. You declare in front of them that – despite the ups and downs that will come your way – you’re going to commit to each other for the rest of your lives, and those friends and family in turn promise to support you both to do that. No man is an island, so they say, and no marriage either. It’s a beautiful, wonderful and very inspiring thing.

The Giant Wedding Show, Derbyshire

Any tip for brides looking into your type of service?

Lots of tips, but mostly work with suppliers that really “get” the kind of wedding you’re planning. Not every supplier will specialise in the type of event you’re putting together, and that’s totally cool – but pick someone who understands your vision and will help you realise it!

The Giant Wedding Show, Derbyshire

Are there any special offers available for the wedding show?

Absolutely! We’re offering all brides and grooms planning a 2016 or 2017 wedding 15% off any order with Country Garden Weddings, as well as the opportunity to win a “mini-moon” in the Peak District!
